Blaine Community Information

Blaine offers many popular recreational and entertainment hubs. Bunker Hill Regional Park features the Anoka County wave pool. Summertime baseball and softball tournaments each year make Blaine a great host to the fun and frolic of seasonal sports in warmer weather, as well.

The nuances and allure of sophisticated city-life are within easy proximity to Blaine. The state's largest metropolis, Minneapolis, features world-class music, theater, ballet, and the finest in restaurant dining all easily accessible by car.

Blaine has flowered from a richly pioneer-laden history. Blaine split away from the city of Anoka in 1877. Shortly after Blaine separated from Anoka its first elections were held. The town began to develop as more settlers arrived, though Blaine's abundant wetlands and sandy soils prevented farming from booming. In time it became known for wide-open spaces near scenic bodies of water, all a good distance from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. Now it is a community rich in liveliness, sport and pride.
